About the Founder

Starting with ceramics over 20 years ago, founder Jen Cotton discovered her love of making things that live in people’s homes and become a part of their everyday lives. She founded her porcelain ceramics line in 2011 and has participated in gallery shows at the Lyons Wier Gallery and Choplet Gallery in New York City. Her pottery has been featured on sites like Refinery29 and Made and State. 

As a designer interested in the home, Jen spent over 4 years designing in the smart home space at both Amazon Alexa and Google Nest. She helped to launch sleep sensing for the Nest Hub, privacy controls for the Google Home app, the Alexa experience across FireTVs and the Echo Show 8” & 10” devices. Her time working in-house on the two largest platforms that power the modern home helps her as she brings that technology expertise to her work on interiors.

In 2018, Jen extended her passion for the home environment to designing residential interiors and a new arm of JCD was born. Rooted in Jen’s obsession with how design can transform everyday home life, her interiors lean off her extensive knowledge of ceramics, design and smart home technology. Her spaces often mix classic tile-work, modern finishes and technology, along with splashes of pattern.

Jen received her MFA in Design & Technology from Parsons School for Design and is located in Los Angeles, CA.
